Rocking out in the Pop up and Red 85

From my EuroNews friends

Well now have some music playing capability at Ealing's Bond Street Pop Up (At Number 16)  and finally getting into the CD that my Euronews colleagues (Figaro) bought me  when I left  to go to Hong Kong more than 20 years ago.

Classical music is ideal for a bit of a gallery vibe and I'd not really recognized how good my Kef Loudspeakers are - nice to turn it up and not be disturbing anyone (!)

Give it a Beat

Well it's only about a month before (Borough of ) Ealing's Art Trail gets  underway and I think a certain coffee shop on the Broadway might want to 'capitalize.

They like a cappuccino so how about setting out to attract the  Ealing BEATs?

Red 85

Looking a little like the Charley's Angels silhouette logo - not totally suggesting the normal football fan - but then perhaps it's a multi-purpose evocation of fandom?

Okay Angels - Let's try bussing them in.

Yes it's me alright and Red 86

How could they have known?

Well when I was on the way to the Pop Up and passing some religious types for the second time  someone in the group, a lady I think gave me this  - close but they'd got the spelling wrong.

I'm somewhat fascinated by religious types who seek to help with no obvious reward - Jehovah's Witnesses don't fit that category as part of their agreement (as far as I understand) is that they only get their 'mansion in heaven' if they do certain duties one of which is to tell people of the consequences of not seeing the light.

These people seem (as far as I can tell) genuine kindly with some positive ideas.

My trumpet.

I shouldn't blow my own trumpet but here goes ...

One of the shops in the reflection

This is currently a favourite photo' of mine and it works really well in the Pop Up - it's about reflections of shop fronts and what's curious is how with other reflections (from Bond Street)  - you wonder which are in the photo and which are in the nearby shops - it can take some time to decipher - which I reckon is enjoyable.

Works well here but I'd like a bigger print

Blue Guitar was a hit some years ago but not for this guy who was playing outside Ealing Broadway station yesterday evening,

Not a guitar for the blues?

More Stuff and Red 87

A slightly bigger work from Paul
Yesterday was 'Day 5' of the 16, Bond Street Pop Up (Ealing)  and while I'd felt that things were getting busier and that better weather would bring more people in - it was pretty quiet for the earlier part of the session.

A highlight though was the larger-that-life enthusiastic presence of  Paul Fisher an Acton artist who brought in some small canvases for show  (you can contact him here)
From only £20

Paul's works are Acrylic on Canvas and start at only £20.

Sounds of the Sixties (and 70's)

Still mind blowing ?
Quite excited to find I've actually still got Jig a Jig by East of Eden (it seemed mind-blowing - back in the day) - this and hearing Donovan's Sunny Goodge Street (Generally rather good Sounds of the Sixties programme)  means that I'm going to fire up the 'Turntable' sometime soon....

Her Majesty's a pretty nice girl (here in Red)

Local issues and Red 88

One of the things about 'strangers' coming in to the Pop Up is what they talk about - as well as the works on display - the subject of the local council and their shortcomings does often crop up.
Ealing Town Hall- A boutique Hotel and a swinging 'hotspot' ?

Plenty of people (but remember this is not a scientifically selected group) think that there should be more done for Artistic & Cultural enterprise and there are people who worry about how developments are changing the nature of the area (I guess this is pretty much the case for the last 100 years or so).

I am slightly alarmed though at the  disinformation and lack of knowledge of local matters though - I suppose there are plenty of other things getting people's attention.

For example some people hold the local council responsible for changing the rules around TV licences and the BBC iPlayer use.

An ugly design?

To me the department that's letting down the local population is the planning one
- not only looking to accept poorly thought out retail/housing schemes they consistently approve ugly buildings built for short term profit.

[It seems too that  quite a number of people have not heard of plans to change our local 'Town Hall' to a hotel -if it happens as swiftly as the Cinema revamp we can remain relaxed.]

Other Activity

'Shutting down'

So as well as a bit more reading (and a few visitors) I found time to get the mini PC fired up - it's a very impressive beast (Lenovo MIIX 300) and pretty responsive - seems to take a while to shut down but this could be while the Windows 10 gets itself up to the latest revision.

I'm planning to connect it to a Bluetooth Vamp speaker today for more sounds

Are the stars out tonight?

Well here's one anyway (and it's the day).
