Finding my religion and camera use

Probably more than minutes though

One of the things I have had in mind since before the start of 2017 is around religion - it's something that is questionable for me but important and I'm hoping that Marcus Weeks's book which I recently received will act as a starting off point for my consideration much as an earlier book on Philosophy by him did.

Keep an eye out here and I'll be reflecting on what I get from the book weekly.

Photography and The Canon G7 X

Almost SLR ability to give sharp focus and depth
Enjoyed watching the part 3 of 'Britain in Focus' with Eamon McCabbe on BBC catch-up - I suppose the fact that Martin Parr was a large part of it helped (loved the insight on the influence that  a photographer called John Hinde's Postwar holiday postcards had on him).

Background Focus &

'Throwing' Focus

I'm adjusting to my new camera - it's surprising to me that it feels so different (in terms of the pictures I get) from the G 16 - really do like the different picture ration that I'm using and impressed by its capabilities at low light.

Not so sure about not having an optical viewfinder and not being able to access an 'electronic zoom' but think depth of focus is worth having - also intrigued to find that exposure (to me) tends towards underexposed but detail in 'the blacks' is there to be accessed if wanted - am hoping to find that I can take advantage of this when I start to learn a bit about Adobe Photoshop at RACC later in the week.

Big file

Well this in a way is the end of my Camera Fund theme (but also in another way the beginning) - I got the new G7 Mark II yesterday and am staggered by it - but initially also slightly disappointed (as we can be with 'material' things) - was it about 'saving up' and that was the key  thing?
As pictured by the G15

I now see it does an amazing job and am looking forward to giving it some real tests (perhaps get a phone that will work with it too).

And here's a picture from it

The New Year (1)

Okay so 2017 is with us and I'm enthusiastic about it ..

amongst other things....
First £1 - See the equivalent later

Yesterday I saw a Youtube review of the Canon G7 Mark II by Vlogger Michaela (below) - I thought she did a very good job, I'm not sure if Canon do anything to reward her (or others who do similar) but good job Michaela.

Following the review I  have decided I'd like this for 2018 (or before) -

What I'm going to do is put in at least £1 per day and record this too - it's a sort of equivalence record and once I reach the amount the camera costs (be interesting to see how the price changes too best I've seen so far is about £460 at eglobal central ) I'll buy it!

Faith & Religion

I mentioned a few days back the religious/faith project  I'm carrying out, as well as the Circumcision Day the 1st marks the Japanese  Ganjitsu festival- it's been running since around 1873 and is a family time (around 3 days in duration) when many visit Shinto Shrines or Buddhist Temples.

I'm not sure if this Shrine is one that I can visit in London 2018

January 1st is also the last day of Hanukkah - the Jewish festival associated with Sanctified Oil - typically families spend time together, there are gifts as well as prayers and hymns. (in 2018 it'll be on December 10th)

Front Doors

Already seeing that this project isn't the walk in the park it seemed - I like this though, Wimborne sounds a bit like Tim Bourne.

Miserable day and I used my Canon SX 280 HS which is clearly not as good as the G16
