Yesterday prior to joining week one of a City Lit course at The National Gallery (
more about this later - I was drawn to the area around The Mall - was trying to capture something of
Canaletto's The Old Horse Guards from St James's Park - perhaps there's a hint of it something about scale and architecture - in his Italian works Venetian canals do the work of the big open spaces.
